Our purpose and strategy

As a responsible organisation, our purpose is to make an impact that matters for our clients, people and society while sustaining profitable growth and providing meaningful work for all Deloitters. This is what we call: Together makes progress.

"What makes Deloitte a purpose-led organisation is our belief that doing good and growing profitably go hand in hand. We see this in the clients we work with, the way we invest in our people, and the role we play in society. Over the past year, we have seen organisations take meaningful steps towards resilience and responsibility. I look forward to building on that momentum and deepening the impact we have together."

Sjoerd van der Smissen, Purpose Lead

How do we make progress with our clients?

Working with our clients across industries, we drive transformation towards responsible and sustainable business models. By connecting our skills and services, we deliver solutions to their toughest challenges, delivering consistent high quality, every single day.

"Across all our industries, we have seen accelerating demand for the topics of Resilience and AI. In our experience, the key challenge is embedding these topics at societal as well as organisational level. I’m particularly proud of the learning journeys we hosted with our clients. We have witnessed the tremendous impact of scaling AI responsibly and have helped several clients and ecosystems become more resilient. As we move into the new year, we will maintain our focus on scaling responsible, AI-first propositions and keep building a more resilient Netherlands."

Pieter Hofman, Clients & Markets Lead

“In an AI‑driven, fast‑changing Tax & Legal landscape, we help clients navigate transformation with confidence. We guide responsible adoption of AI, grounded in data governance, auditability and confidentiality, so tax teams gain reliable time savings and stronger compliance, with a clear pathway from proof of concept to scaled, sustainable use.”

Willem Gooskens, Business Lead Tax & Legal

“Clients look to us as their trusted advisors during times of change and uncertainty. By connecting across our integrated capabilities and embodying the Most Valuable Partner promise, we create enduring shared value and deliver transformative impact at the heart of every organisation we serve.”

Petra Tito, Business Lead Technology & Transformation

"As Enabling Functions we strive to make an impact that matters on our business and for our people and our clients. We do this through great collaboration, being trusted partners who bring insight, and the delivery of high-quality, solution-focused services. I am proud of the many great things we’ve delivered this year.”

Jamie Gatt, CQRO & Business Lead Enabling Functions

"We make an impact by supporting our public and private organisations in strengthening resilience in a transformative world. Through integrated solutions that combine strategy, risk management, and practical action, we work together to create futureproof growth and prepare for unexpected events and crisis. This positions our clients to thrive through uncertainty and contribute to a more resilient society."

Baldwin Kramer, Business Lead Strategy, Risk & Transactions Advisory

"I am proud that we make an impact that matters by protecting the public interest and building trust and confidence in business and capital markets through independent, high-quality and AI-powered audit and assurance services, delivered by our people every day.”

Gera Hamer, Business lead Audit & Assurance

Through impactful client work, we actively want to contribute to a more resilient society by applying our Global Responsible Business Practices commitments, Purpose and Shared Values in our decision-making processes. Our Responsible Business Committee (RBC) has been established to provide an extra layer of cross-business dialogue in cases where client or engagement acceptance matters carry a significant public interest or purpose factor.

“The level of trust that our people, clients and other stakeholders put in us, is one of Deloitte’s most valuable assets. An important fundament of trust is consistent, principle-based decision-making. By having an additional level of scrutiny in high-risk or high-impact engagement acceptance decisions, the Responsible Business Committee helps ensure that we avoid engagements that are contrary to our values, could undermine stakeholder trust and put Deloitte at risk.”

Frédérique Demenint-van der Ven, Risk & Reputation Leadership

How do we make progress in society?

We work together to contribute to building a more responsible and resilient society in the Netherlands, through the client projects we engage in, through the initiatives within our ‘Future of’ themes and through our Deloitte Impact Foundation.

Serving in two worlds: Deloitte’s reservist policy in practice

Nikola advises clients on cyber risk and governance, helping them raise their cybersecurity to meet new laws and regulations. One day a week, he swaps his laptop for a uniform to patrol the perimeter of an air base. Nikola: “The wish to do something concrete for society and contribute to security was important to me. As a reservist, I help keep the Netherlands a little bit safer. And at Deloitte, I help organisations become more resilient against cyber-attacks. For me, that is impact.”

Deloitte’s reservist policy makes this dual role possible. Employees who serve as reservists can use up to 5% of their annual working time, around 11 days on a full-time basis, for training, exercises or deployment.

How do we make progress for people?

For our people, we are committed to providing opportunities for personal growth and development, and to helping them connect with and fulfil their purpose through meaningful work. Our Employee Value Proposition aims to enable our people to excel, grow, contribute to their communities and become the next generation of leaders. At the same time, we strive to create an inclusive workplace and champion talent diversity to create value.

A role that plays to your strengths: Deloitte’s inclusive hiring initiative

Brechtje came into contact with our Inclusive Hiring initiative run in collaboration with Ctalents, (new window) a specialised agency supporting people with a visual or hearing disability and neurodivergent talent. “That made a real difference. There was space to talk about how I work best, instead of trying to squeeze myself into a standard profile.

Brechtje: “I was diagnosed with autism quite late, at 46. It helped me understand myself better. I realised that I’m not ‘odd’ or ‘difficult’ – my brain just works differently. That insight brought a lot of self-acceptance.”

Brechtje has been working within Sales Excellence, focusing on public-sector tenders. It’s a role that plays to her strengths and her way of thinking has proved to be valuable for the team. “Government tenders are complex and very precise, and that suits me. I’m analytical, detail-oriented and quite perfectionistic. In this context, that’s actually an advantage.”

Our strategy 2024-2027

At the heart of our strategy lies the ambition to be the market leader in the Netherlands, truly differentiated by the value we bring to our clients, people and society. We continue to build a purpose-led, sustainable and inclusive organisation, growing into a place for talent and future leaders to develop and be involved in the most impactful transformations and audits.

Five strategic pillars help us meet our goals: marry purpose and profit; pursue internationalisation with local strength; offer integrated propositions as our clients’ trusted partner; develop (future) leaders and be the preferred employer for all; and innovate how we deliver value to clients.

We aspire to increase our contribution to a trustworthy, sustainable, secure, healthy and equitable society, in which sustainability is integral. This is reflected in our ‘Future of’ themes including energy, food, whole of society and health to create a positive impact through relevant and meaningful client work.

Using market analysis, we aligned our long-term ambitions and strategy, focusing on optimising resources, leveraging capabilities and market opportunities. To understand the evolving client landscape and stakeholder expectations, we engaged internal and external stakeholders. Clients, non-clients, and employees shared insights in partner meetings, round tables, and focus groups. Collectively, these inputs shaped and refined our strategy, finalised by our Strategy Office.

"During FY26 we kept focusing on our ambition to become a true category of one by delivering end-to-end value through Advise–Implement–Operate services, grounded in trust.

We helped our clients accelerate their transformations and gave them the confidence and trust—whether in A&A, T&L or Consultative Services—that they are making the right decisions. Internally, we further embedded AI into our offerings and service delivery, strengthened our Operate business, and advanced our EMEA integration.

AI is advancing rapidly and is having a profound impact on our clients, our offerings and our talent proposition. This shapes our priorities for FY27 across four areas. First, becoming the number‑one leader in AI transformation by investing in AI capabilities and human–AI augmentation; second, scaling our Operate business to deliver lasting client outcomes. Third, leveraging EMEA’s scale and diversity to bring the best of our firm to every client; and fourth, investing in our talent experience and future workforce to continue attracting and retaining top talent.

Together, we continue to build a firm where trust is the foundation. Trust with our clients, trust from our people and trust in each other. This is how we transform how we work, what we deliver and how we show up for each other every day."

AI & Resilience: our strategy in action

How Rotterdam is building resilient neighbourhoods

Prolonged outages can have serious consequences, and that awareness is growing. Rotterdam is actively exploring how residents can better prepare. At the heart of the Bloemhof initiative is a simple but critical question: how can residents support themselves during the first 72 hours of a crisis?

This led to the creation of a core group of 25 public, private, and social organisations working together to build a more resilient Netherlands.

The strength of the initiative lies in its diverse collaboration. Albert Heijn contributes expertise in daily food supply, the Red Cross brings experience with emergency aid and volunteer networks, the municipality knows what is happening in the neighbourhood, and the Safety Region connects the pilot to existing crisis structures.

Deloitte acts as the connecting and analytical partner, helping translate insights into an approach that can later be applied in other neighbourhoods.

“Resilience must be organised together. This requires moving from ‘me’ to ‘we.’ "

- Sjoerd van der Smissen, Government & Public Sector Industry Lead

Building resilience for tomorrow with Philips

Closing the gap between sustainability ambition and real impact is at the heart of what we do. For Philips, that meant evaluating its due diligence processes and making sure they were built to last.

Philips wanted to stay ahead of fast‑moving regulatory requirements and shifting market demands. Deloitte brought together experts in sustainability, supply chain, and legal to run a comprehensive readiness assessment across the business. The team examined human rights and environmental due diligence capabilities end-to-end, from how risks are identified to how they are acted on across the value chain.

The outcome was clear: a full picture of enterprise-wide readiness and a risk-informed roadmap to future‑proof the value chain. Leadership can now prioritise the right initiatives at the right time, with the confidence to act.

“Despite geopolitical and regulatory disruptions, the fundamentals of sustainability remain strong. We continue to help our clients become more resilient by future‑proofing their product portfolios, supply chains and operations, enabling meaningful reporting and leveraging the power of AI.”

- Arjan de Draaijer, Partner Sustainability Strategy and Transformation and Sustainability & Climate Leader

Supporting an important mission with AI assistant Headstart

War Child is committed to helping children growing up in conflict zones around the world. They do so with passion – and with limited resources. So how can they use GenAI to achieve more? Deloitte, partly through Deloitte's Impact Foundation, developed a personalised AI assistant for War Child, based on its own secure GenAI platform, Headstart. Security was key for War Child, and Headstart runs in a closed, secure environment and meets the strictest compliance and Responsible AI standards.
